Apartment Review for Trends Capital, Llc Aka Jlb Investment Properties - Pittsburgh, PA

We moved into a Trends Capital apartment in August and it was an absolute nightmare from the beginning. When we originally looked at the apartment, everything seemed fine, but the day we moved in the entire apartment was trashed. The previous owners had allowed (and I believe encouraged) their dog to urinate all over the walls and carpet. It smelled so bad, that you couldn't stay there for more than a few seconds without having your eyes tear up and start gagging even with the windows open. There was also a broken door, a broken staircase, and wires hanging out of the sockets. By the way, this was after they "cleaned" the apartment. The reality of it was that the place was unlivable. The maintenance people took over a month to come fix everything and patch up holes in the walls. Unfortunately, it got even worse. Over Thanksgiving break, one of the apartments close to us had a fire and although our stuff was fine, it smelled horrible and the landlord offered no relief or help to get the smell out. We got terrible headaches from the smoke and poor ventilation system. We had to move out for a couple of weeks, which was a huge inconvenience. Our stuff still smells terrible and it has been over a month, which doesn't make sense at all since the windows are so drafty and the walls so poorly insulated that there's always freezing cold air circulating in the apartment. You'd think with all that cold air, it would smell better, right? It actually gets better from here. We left for Christmas break around the 11th of December, and we were notified (by a sign on the front door of the apartment complex, no less) that a team was coming in to take care of the cockroaches (I've seen quite a few of them) on December 19. Today, we just learned that our television got stolen. I know that it was one of the maintenance people since we double- and triple-checked that the door was locked before we left. Some of the neighbors are very shady and ill-kept people who smoke marijuana at all hours of the day and night. Needless to say, I did not feel safe at night. I am totally disgusted by the service of this place. If you're not convinced, then go to any of the tenants before you start renting from Trends Capital and ask them how they are living. I promise you, they will describe a similar situation. Please do not get taken in by this scam. You can do so much better for the price that they are asking. Trends Capital is run by dogs who are in it for profit and who make their tenants live in nightmarish conditions. Please, for your own health and safety, avoid this place.
