Every single one of these glowing reviews are fake. It's possible that you may come across a review stating something like "Pay your rent on time, and they won't bother you." This sounds like a real tenant. Jason Cohen has a reputation for posting fake positive reviews to balance out the negative ones. Check the BBB website, where Trends Capital receives an "F" rating. Look up online newspaper articles (Post Gazette, Tribune Review, etc.) for Trends Capital and Jason Cohen. He is a sleazy individual. It took over a year for Cohen to do all these wonderful things "for us" in Bethel Park. To start with, every tenant went for weeks without a mailbox, and had to stand in line and pick up their mail at the post office. Granted, a moving truck broke the old ones, but despite cashing the healthy insurance check, he took his sweet time pouring the concrete needed for the post office to complete the job. The road was treacherous to begin with, and had enormous potholes, but in the winter time we'd be lucky on the days when someone would show up in a broken down pickup truck, so that those of us without a Jeep or 4x4 could make it to our driveway. Only the middle of the road was plowed, leaving the sides/bottom of the driveways to eventually become solid blocks of ice. I fell twice after freshly fallen snow had covered this huge ice patch. I helped an elderly tenant, who was walking with a cane, after having 2 knee replacement surgeries, before she tried to cross the ice barrier to get to the mailbox. The truck didn't even have a salt sprinkler. Instead, a man randomly sprinkled a bag of salt by hand. The only way to get up the hill was at a decent amount of speed. If another tenant happened to be driving down the hill, you had to back out onto Rt. 88, drive down the street, turn around, and go again. It surprises me that there were no lawsuits. I've been lucky enough not to need any serious maintenance. Most of the units are water damaged, and the living room ceiling will leak, unless you take precautions. In other words, don't use the washing machine connection. Seal yourself in a plastic bubble, surrounded by towels when you take a shower, as well. Some air conditioners work, but mine didn't do much. One neighbor needed a simple freon charge, which used to be performed on a yearly basis by the previous landlord that left for Brazil after several of his properties, including this one, were foreclosed on. Cohen refused to do anything, even after being instructed to by a local magistrate. Other neighbors were even less fortunate, and had to put up with no air conditioning at all last summer. The previous landlord ripped off the bank. Cohen prefers to screw over the little guy. Who do you think is worse? Some neighbors mowed their own lawn, because Cohen was too cheap to pay a couple of kids to do it once a week. He neglected to pay Waste Management, and garbage piled up over weeks in front of every townhouse, after they refused to pick it up. Tenants had their garbage torn open by sewer dwelling raccoons. Garbage was everywhere. The smell was pungent. We called code enforcement, and for a while, he made his employees load their truck up with our garbage. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they just dumped it somewhere. He finally had to pay another company to pick up the garbage, I assume, because of his outstanding debt with Waste Management. After this, we received nasty notices on the doors, stating that it was our responsibility to keep our garbage in garbage cans. Never mind the fact that most people's containers were already overflowing, because he didn't pay the bill. Jason Cohen's plan is NOT to keep renting these units. All of this work is being paid for by US for HIS benefit. The rent has gone up, and he has added non-refundable pet charges, in addition to monthly rent for your pet. THESE UNITS ARE TO BE SOLD AS CONDOS! Take a good look at the second townhouse on the left. He has spent big bucks turning this into a model home. There's always a Nissan Titan truck parked in the driveway, and this guy is doing some serious renovation work. You'll also notice a black Mercedes CLK 320 coupe (Cohen's car), along with a silver BMW 745 (partner?), parked outside this townhouse quite often. Do any of you honestly believe these people would pay this much attention to a rental unit? Isn't it convenient for Cohen to collect rent, tell us to clean our garages out in a day or two, so that "WE" can have a new garage door? There was nothing wrong with the old ones. What about the roof workers carelessly throwing nail spiked roof shingles while cars were parked in the driveways, people were walking out front, and dogs and children were in the backyard? They had huge dumpsters out front, and could've very easily run a chute leading from the roof, directly into it, but that would've made too much sense for these idiots. We weren't given any advance notification that work was going to be done. Only in situations that suited them, such as the garages needing to be emptied, did they give us a couple of days, and even that is beyond inconvenient, especially for some tenants that had just moved in. A couple of days before the road was paved (a year after we were told it would be), they posted notices on the doors stating that we'd have to park a few hundred yards up the street, but they were not responsible for any damages or theft to our vehicles. (Isn't this why we pay for a home with a garage?) They tore up the road, and our driveways, then posted rain delay notices. There is always a threatening tone at the end of Trends Capital's notices. It infuriates me that they can't just make a decent living and treat people with respect. The professional thing to do would've been to send every tenant a notice, at least a month in advance of their intended renovation schedule, so that we could plan our lives accordingly. Say something like, "We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you, but..." "The following dates have been set aside for..." "So, if you could please..." "...clean out your garage" "...park in the lot down the street. Although, we can't guarantee the safety of your vehicle, we have taken out an insurance policy to cover possible damages, in addition to notifying the Bethel Park Police Department of our plans." "Thank you for your understanding, and we hope you enjoy the renovations." I don't think Jason Cohen is even 30 years old, yet. After the city fined him $200,000 for fire code violations, a judge praised him, because he was forced to spend $100,000 to bring one of his buildings up to code. The judge let him off the hook for the $200,000. Cliff notes...Cohen fined because the building was unsafe. Made the building safe ONLY because he was fined. Judge praises Jason. Huh? That's like driving 100 mph down the road, being pulled over by a cop and cited, then having the judge let you off the hook because you slowed down, plus getting a pat on the back for doing so! Maybe Jason's wealthy father intervened? Maybe Jason made a side deal? Either way, the only lessons this kid has learned are that white collar crime pays. Do yourself a favor, don't give this guy any money.
