Apartment Review
SLUMLORDS
Review Date: 3/13/2009
Reviewer: Anonymous

I lived in a trends owned building for 2 years. During those two years, they responded to a total of 2 of my maintenance requests. If you live in a Trends building, check your locks. We found that the locks in our building were ALL THE SAME. Meaning, my keys unlocked every other apartment in the building, and so did everyone else's keys. It took over a year for anything to get done about it, including 5 calls to the Pittsburgh building inspectors. Also, parking was said to be off street and never an issue....too bad there were 2 abdandoned vehicles in our parking lot for over a year...now there is only one, out of 7 spots total for 12 apartments, that is unacceptable. Finally, during the process of moving out, the slumlords repeatedly broke our lease. They showed up to show the apartment without notice, even though our lease stated that they were required to notify us at least 30 minutes in advance. Even though we called and gave them our number several times, emailed them our numbers, and included our numbers on EVERY single rent check, when it was time for them to call and notify us of their appointment, they mysteriously could not find our phone numbers. This company is a complete joke, and I wish that there was something that I could do to further warn people NOT to rent from them. PLEASE do not put yourself through it... One final note: 301 S Negley ave, they are going to start making tenants to pay for heat. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL THE HEAT FROM INSIDE OF INDIVIDUAL APARTMENTS. So, you will be splitting the heat with the entire building, which is not fair at all, and also, the building is HOT when it gets above 40 degrees outside and is FREEZING when it is below 30 degrees outside.
