This is one of the biggest slumlords in Oakland. His units are nothing but complete dumps. Cosmetically they might look fine but until you actually move in you don't know what you're in for. He's real nice to you when he wants you to sign the lease and hand over the money. Just don't count on getting your security deposit back when you move out. He will accuse you of causing all kinds of damage to the unit when in reality it was already like that. This guy is consistently in court from what I discovered. Continuously being sued by former tenants to recover their secuirty deposits. Also, I discovered that it is illegal to have more than three unrelated people occupying any given unit in the city. That explains why he never put more than three names on the lease even though more than three people were occupying the unit. He also advised us to not put more than three names on the mailbox. If anything happens to the place the people not listed on the lease are screwed from recovering any losses they may have incurred. Maintenance issues were a complete farce. He never responds to your calls. It either goes to voice mails or someone takes a message. Of course he never gets back to you. The only time you hear from him is when he wants his rent. If you check with the bureau of building inspection, health department and other agencies his name is well known. That's because there are so many code violations filed against him. He's known on a first name basis.

REMEMBER the name ****** ROBERT ECKENRODE ******** Make sure you never have any dealing with this slumlord. You'll definitely regret moving into any of his units.
