Apartment Review for Herbert Halsband - Pittsburgh, PA

First and foremost, please excuse the 3s across the board. The reason I did this was because this review was done before I even had a chance to move in!

I had signed the lease for one of Herbert Halsband's properties on South Fairmount St in early March. Towards the end of the month, I called the leasing office to see what would happen if I was transfered out to Philadelphia for my job. I was informed that I'd need to provide 45 days written notice, and that I'd lose up to 3 months rent. She, Sherri, then told me to get back to them with a final word(whether I was leaving or not).

So after my transfer fell through, I called to verify the move-in date...only to find out they had already re-rented my apartment. There excuse was, "we didn't hear from you so we just assumed that you had already left." As much as this frustrates/frustrated me, I'm some what relieved. Now, since they messed up big time, they are willing to give me my security deposit back....and this incident gives me some insight as to what it would have been like to actually rent from them. If they are going to be this unprofessional before I even lived there, imagine what they'd be like with maintenance requests, and things of that nature.

So, today, I called to see how to go about getting my security deposit back. Sherri said, "oh, well, the owner is gone, so you'll have to wait til monday or tuesday...but call before you just show up." Geez. It's nothing but a hassle with these people. It's a shame that they totally dicked me over, the apartment I was going to move into was really nice, and very well priced.
