Apartment Review
Seems like a nice, inexpensive place, but be caref

The apartments are pretty cheap and living here was rather comfortable, but getting things taken care of (depending on the importance) could be a problem. They quickly fixed the light socket when it was sparking and the shower wall when it got a hole it in, but they never replaced our main window that had a huge crack in it and never repaired the large hole in the linoleum of the kitchen floor. This was the best apartment I lived in in Pittsburgh because we were comfortable there and the management generally left us alone (except when they were showing the apartment to try to sell the building). However, we had painted the apartment when we moved in to make it more homey. All the people interested in buying the building commented on how nice it looked. When we moved out we were in a hurry and decided not to repaint and pay the fee that the landlord would charge us. Of course, we thought it would be a reasonable fee. Management apparently hired a contractor who charged them $1,100 to repaint 5 walls (about 650 sq. feet). I looked into taking the case to small claims court when I got estimates from other painters for about $450 to $725 for the job, but in the end we would have had no defense since the contractor could basically say that our price is the price he normally charges. I am convinced that the landlord simply told the painter to charge whatever he pleased (because they wouldn't be the ones paying). In conclusion, I quite enjoyed living here, but if you choose to don't paint unless you plan on repainting. Make sure you clean everything perfectly and give them no reason to take a penny away from you, because they will take hundreds of dollars.
