Good place to live in Shadyside
Review Date: 4/26/2007 Reviewer: Anonymous
I'm very happy to live here. The walls are pretty thick so you don't hear your neighbor on the phone or their t.v. running. A lot of space. Near 71A, 81B, 54C bus stop. The person that rented us our apartment(the manager?) knows my room mate and me by our first names and greets us every time we see him. He's very kind and polite. Maintenance is one site and pretty quick. When our phone broke they came that very same afternoon. Our apartment came with two air conditioners, one in the bedroom and one in the living room. Heating is very nice and kept us warm all winter. It's electric heating. Despite that, electricity bills were still pretty low. No bugs. Clean carpet. Clean walls. Garage parking for tenants(although we never used it since we didn't have a car). My only beefs: 1) The a.c. units are embedded in the walls so they can't be removed in the winter. As a result, cold air in the winter will have a tendency to leak through them. But it was not as if it terribly affected the overall temp of the a apartment. The heating kept us warm. 2) It's get pretty hot in the summer. Well yeah, it's Pittsburgh. It gets hot here. But the apartment had this ability to suck up heat from outside. And our apartment is on the north side of the building so it doesn't even face the sun. You'd think it'd be at least 6 degrees cooler inside. But it wasn't. It was the same if not hotter. And the heat wouldn't dissipate until long after the sun set. Luckily, the A/C units cooled off the place pretty well and effectively. So well, in fact, that were times in the summer when the A/C was on and it'd get so cold that I'd shiver. |
